How long an e-way bill is valid
An e-way bill's validity depends on the distance the goods must travel.
The rule of thumb
For normal cargo it is broadly one day for every 200 km (or part thereof), counted from when Part B is entered. Longer distances get proportionally more days.
If it expires
If goods are still in transit when validity ends (a breakdown, for example), the e-way bill can be extended within the allowed window. Moving goods on an expired e-way bill can attract detention and penalty.
